As the cast and crew prepare for the upcoming run (November 15-24) of the Broadway musical "Into the Woods," presented by the BPC Performing Arts Department in Mills Theater on the Longmeadow campus, Hatch Library offers several resources to help audience members get the most out of viewing this production:
*In the book "Look, I Made a Hat," the second volume of his collected lyrics, composer Stephen Sondheim offers many insightful comments about how he worked with book writer James Lapine and other members of the production team to put the show together (ML54.6.S69 S622 2011/lower level);
*In the collection of critical essays "Reading Stephen Sondheim," editor Sandor Goodhart contributes an interesting chapter on "Into the Woods" (ML410.S6872 R4 2000/lower level);
*In the Hatch Library database "Naxos Music Library," you can hear the entire Broadway revival cast recording of "Into the Woods," starring Vanessa Williams and John McMartin (click the "Databases" link on the Hatch home page, or the "Arts & Humanities" research guide);
*Learn from the library's "Oxford Reference" database why, when you tell a member of the cast to "break a leg," you're really wishing the actor good luck!
